Portraits of Modern Love Louis Cannizzaro's postcards and t-shirts are like snapshots of relationships. They are text and images fused into snippets of memories. They are portraits of modern love. Artist Louis Cannizzaro grew up in Buffalo, New York, and quickly moved to New York City where he attended The Fashion Institute of Technology. While there he worked at the infamous Limelight nightclub where Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquait, and Keith Haring were regulars. After ten years of living in New York, Cannizzaro moved to Los Angeles and set to work on his art career. After many shows in alternative spaces and galleries he came to realize that not everyone could afford to own a piece of original art. So he created Powder French, a company that produces reproductions of this artwork in the form of clothing, prints, postcards, and other items. "I hope people use these cards and shirts to remind the girl they love about the little moments of beauty and contradiction that go into a passionate love affair," states Cannizzaro. Cannizzaro's work has appeared in Vanity Fair, Woman's Wear Daily, and Glue magazines. Neiman Marcus used three of his pieces in their Art of Fashion ad campaign, and his t-shirts will be seen on the WB's TV show Popular this fall. Besides television, Cannizzaro's work will also be featured throughout The American Film Institutes Fall Festival
